Thank-you GCBF and Cr Schrinner.
New Turf Wicket Mower
EDJCA has taken delivery of a new Masport Golf 500 - 10 blade reel mower (6hp) - provided by Woodland Mowers, Logan Rd Holland Park. The turf wicket will be even better with this new addition to the EDJCA fleet. Whilst we did not obtain a grant for the mower, Gary at Woodland's helped us out with a considerable discount.
Equipment Shed Grants - 2010/11
The shed was mostly funded by grants from
The Lord Mayor's Suburban Initiatives Fund
- Councillor Adrian Schrinner (Chandler), Councillor Ian McKenzie (Holland Park) and equal contributions from EDJCA and BMTA. At 16m wide, 7m deep and 3m tall it has enough space for current needs and room for growing needs of both BMTA and EDJCA. .
Mentay 2000 Roller Grant - 2010
EDJCA has purchased a Mentay 2000 Roller for preparing the Whites Hill Turf Wicket thanks to the
QLD Government's Gambling Community Benefit Fund
. This is the same type of roller used at The 'Gabba!
Nets Refurbishment and Marquees 2010
The
Commonwealth Bank
Sponsorship has been put to good use with a much needed overhaul of our cricket nets by
Gabba Sporting Products
($21,000) and the purchase of EDJCA Marquees. Commonwealth Bank has been a great sponsor of our EDJCA Fun Day 6-a-side Comp since 2008.
Turf Wicket 2009 and Field Resurfacing 2008-9
Brisbane City Council undertook a significant multi-mullion dollar upgrade of the cricket fields in 2008-9 with resurfacing all 4 fields and re-laying 3 gabba grass pitches and installing a new 4-block turf wicket. Addition field lighting was installed with funding added by BMTA for touch matches and cricket training. The photo of the turf wicket below was taken just after being laid by BCC under consultation with Kevin Mitchell (Gabba Curator) in September 2009 and shows the Ray Little oval's grass having just been re-laid also.
The first matches were played in Season 2010-11 in the BEARS Div 1 comp Saturday mornings and by Sub-Districts on Saturday afternoons.
The wicket is shaping up well under the careful preparation and maintenance by Glen Cooper, groundsman for Coorparoo Sub-Districts Cricket Club under a sub-agreement.
